Sunny Isles Beach Police Department to Host "Casting with a Cop" Event on April 19, 2026

The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is excited to announce the return of the popular "Casting with a Cop" event, scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the iconic Newport Fishing Pier (16501 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach, FL). This annual tradition, which began in 2022 under the vision of Sgt. Ostrov, continues to strengthen the bond between local law enforcement and the community they protect through a shared love for the outdoors.

"Casting with a Cop" offers a wonderful opportunity for children, families, and residents to spend quality time with public safety personnel from Sunny Isles Beach and neighboring agencies. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, the event focuses on building trust and fostering positive relationships in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-timer, this event provides a unique chance to learn fishing tips, share stories, and create meaningful connections with local officers.

This year’s event will see participation from several regional law enforcement partners, including the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast, Miami-Dade Police Department, Aventura Police Department, Bal Harbour Police Department, Golden Beach Police Department, North Miami Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, and the Miccosukee Tribal Police Department. We are also pleased to welcome back Sgt. Rob Ostrov and his K-9 partner, who are always a highlight for the younger attendees.
